Former Boys and Girls Club adviser charged

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Marietta police have charged a 28-year-old Union City man with molesting a young girl while working as an adviser at a Boys and Girls Club.

Police charged Michael Brown with felony child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a child and sexual battery on a girl from the club who is now 13 years old.

Officer Mark Bishop says the charges stem from the time Brown was working as an adviser from 2004 to 2005.

Police Chief Dan Flynn says parents should not be afraid to send their children to the recreational clubs.

Brown has been released on $35,000 bond.
