Columbus Organization fights cop killer's bid for parole

The Georgia State Board of Paroles is scheduled to hear Lonnie
Gene Bott's bid for early release from prison.

Botts, according to court records, murdered Officer Thomas
"Spanky" Bowen on March 11, 1984.

Botts was sentenced to life in prison.

The FOP said Botts should serve everyday of his sentence.

The FOP has organized a letter campaign to urge the panel to
turn down Bott's request.

A similar effort in 2005 was credited with keeping Botts in prison.
