PEMBROKE, Ga. (AP) - Two adults and a 14-month-old child died
early Sunday in an apartment fire in a Pembroke housing complex.
Glenn Allen, a spokesman for the Georgia fire commissioner, says
the 4 a.m. blaze killed 36-year-old Raphel Wadley and Teresa
Howard, also 36, and Howard's son, Dorian Howard.
A neighbor alerted a Pembroke police officer, who pulled the
infant's body out of the fire, but firefighters were unable to
reach the two adults because the roof collapsed.
Allen says investigators believe the fire started in the
kitchen, apparently from a pot left on a stove, and it does not
appear to be suspicious.
