Customs agents at Atlanta's airport seized two pounds of illegal turtle meat and 31 turtle eggs from an international traveler.
The seizure late last month came as the traveler tried to go through customs at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement that the unidentified traveler declared the meat and eggs upon arriving at the airport.
Agricultural specialists from the agency took the meat and eggs because they violated the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, a trade agreement among
nations to prevent the extermination of species.
