MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Firefighters in Milledgeville got a
chance to fight a fire in a familiar location - the bunkroom of
their own fire station.
Chief Tom Dietrich says he had just returned from a meeting with
the fire marshal on Monday and was sitting in his car just outside
the station when he received a call from someone who stated that
the fire department was on fire. He says he thought it was a joke.
A 911 call was received about 3:20 p.m., but the fire was out
before backup help arrived.
Dietrich says it appeared to have been an electrical fire, but
an investigation continues.
