Cobb Co. mother charged in jaywalking death

SMYRNA, Ga. (AP) - A Cobb County mother will face criminal
charges for the jaywalking death of her four-year-old daughter.

Cobb County police said the child was hit by a car when
31-year-old Altamesa Walker ran across five lanes of South Cobb
Drive in Smyrna.

Police alleged that Walker was not in a crosswalk when Brandee
Kelley was killed on the morning of Nov. 17. Walker's three other
children escaped serious injury.

She was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless
conduct.

Walker, who declined to comment on her arrest, was released from
custody on her own recognizance.
