Racy Dance Lands High School Dance Team in Trouble

JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - A high school in Clayton County has
disbanded its dance team for the rest of the school year after the
girls performed a provocative routine during a basketball game.

The routine performed at a Jonesboro High School game on Jan. 13
drew angry calls from parents and community members who were upset that the girls were allowed to wear racy uniforms and dance on
chairs. The school told the team last week they were not to practice or perform at any school function for the remainder of the

The team's sponsor, a teacher at the high school, was removed from her role as the faculty adviser for the team. Clayton County school district spokesman Charles White says the girls will not face disciplinary action for the dance routine.

Videos of the girls' dance were posted on YouTube and MySpace
this week and drew thousands of hits. The routine included the
girls dancing on chairs in tiny, tight shorts and thigh-high
stockings. At one point in the routine, shirtless boys sat in the
chairs as the girls danced around them.
