2 charged in fatal motel shooting in LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities have arrested and charged two
men in a motel shooting in LaGrange that killed one man and wounded
two others.

LaGrange police found the victims Friday night in a Super 8
motel room.

Troup County coroner Jeff Cook says 29-year-old Brian Truitt of
LaGrange died at West Georgia Health Systems. Two others,
34-year-old Marcel Cotton, of West Point, and 22-year-old Kelvin
Lovett, of LaGrange, were airlifted to hospitals in Columbus and
Atlanta.

Tracking the suspects, Coweta County deputies and state police
stopped a vehicle on Interstate 85 and arrested 25-year-old Dewayne
Stevens, of Riverdale, and 28-year-old Malachi Phillips, of
Lithonia.

The two are being held in the Troup County Jail on charges of
murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
