WINDER, Ga. (AP) - The Barrow County Commission has approved a
plan to cut pay for all 512 county employees in a cost-saving
measure it says will, along with other spending cuts, help the
county shave about $2.2 million from county expenses over the next
By a 4-3 vote, the commission approved a measure that would use
a graduated scale for reductions ranging from 3 percent to 10
percent. The measure goes into effect in February.
Besides pay cuts, county officials, among other moves, intend to
do away with holiday and on-call pay and eliminate two part-time
positions in leisure services.
