Fewer Flights Reduce Airport Crowds

Getting home for the holidays through an airport may not be that much of a bother this week. For one reason, there are fewer flights.

And with gasoline prices low, some travelers may avoid airports and drive to their destinations.

In Atlanta, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport doesn't expect a major surge passengers.

Spokesman John Kennedy says traffic at the airport is expected to be roughly flat today through Dec. 24, but he says it can be difficult to project holiday traffic.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines expects to carry about 8.5 million customers from last Friday through Jan. 5. Last Friday and Saturday and Jan. 1-4 will be the busiest days for Delta.
