City officials have been concerned about the high numbers of
accidents and arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The last call now comes at 2 a.m. instead of 4 a.m. The bars will
close their doors at 2:30 a.m. instead of 4:30 a.m.
The general manager of the Derby Sports Bar, Beverly Paris, says
she makes a large portion of her revenue from people taking
advantage of the extra two hours to order drinks and that the
change will hurt.
The Derby is among three establishments that had stayed open
late in Johns Creek.
Since April, police have made 157 DUI arrests, including more
than a third in the two-hour period after 2 a.m.
