ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say a pastor has been arrested on charges he funneled $70,000 from the apartment complex he worked at
into his church's checking account.

Thirty-seven-year-old Maurice Joseph Easley faces eight felony counts of forgery, as well as two felony theft charges.

The pastor of Sanctuary Church of the Living God in Scottdale took the money from residents' rent and other payments while he worked as a property manager, according to police.

Smyrna police Lt. Tony Leonard says Mission Galleria Apartments
found that the money was missing during an audit early this year.

Easley is currently serving a five-year probation sentence after
he pleaded guilty to unrelated theft charges last month.

He was released from jail on $75,000 bond.
