CORDELE, Ga. (AP) - A man is dead and another in critical
condition after a tractor-trailer truck collided with a Crisp
County fire truck.
Georgia State Patrol officials say 33-year-old Alan Waters of
New Madison, Ohio, was killed when he failed to stop at an
intersection and collided with a fire truck as it traveled north on
U.S. Highway 41 on Saturday morning in Cordele.
Fire fighter Tommy Hauesler suffered burns, two collapsed lungs,
two broken shoulders and other wounds in the fiery crash.
Hauesler underwent emergency surgery at Crisp Regional Hospital before being transferred 60 miles north to the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Emergency personnel say Waters died at the scene.
