Driver shot in Alpharetta after chase

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) - A man who led police on a high speed
chase through Fulton and Forsyth counties was shot and wounded.

According to Fulton County sheriff's officials, the driver was
pulled over for a traffic violation at about 1 p.m. Thursday on
Georgia 400.

Authorities said the suspect fled the traffic stop prompting a
chase.

Police said the man hit 6 vehicles while attempting to elude
capture.

The chase ended when the suspect was shot by an Alpharetta
police officer.

Officers also used a pit maneuver that caused the suspect's car to crash into a ditch.

The unnamed driver suffered two gunshot wounds. His condition
was unavailable.

Charges are pending.
