Georgia's top court has denied an attempt by Georgia Democrats to block the state's voter ID law.
The Georgia Supreme Court rejected the appeal by the Democratic Party of Georgia in a brief order filed Monday.
Democrats have long targeted the law, which requires voters to present government-issued photo identification. They say it disenfranchises voters.
Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel, a Republican, said the law helps prevent voter fraud. She said her focus is on "doing what we need to do to preseve the integrity of the election."
