A Gwinnett County jury deliberated for about six hours Friday before returning the sentence for Brenda and Catherine O'Connell.
The 17-year-olds were earlier convicted of malice murder, felony
murder and aggravated assault.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Dawn Taylor told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Brenda sobbed and Catherine wept
quietly as Superior Court Judge Tom Davis sentenced them in the
August 2006 strangulation death of Muriel O'Connell.

Taylor says the most convincing evidence for the jury was the blood found on OConnells bed, which indicated she had been
strangled in her sleep.

Defense attorney Stacy Levy, who represented Brenda, says jurors told her they could not discount the physical evidence.
