Georgia Senate

ATLANTA (AP) - U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss is expected to headline a

rally at the Georgia Capitol supporting the Fair Tax, a plan to abolish

the federal income tax.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is running an ad in

Georgia slamming the Republican's support for the tax plan, which

would replace the income tax with a national sales tax. The ad says

that Chambliss would raise taxes by 23 percent "on nearly

everything you buy."

The Republican battling for re-election labeled the ad

misleading.

Chambliss is locked in a re-election race against Democrat Jim

Martin.
