UNDATED (AP) - Audiences continue to buy tickets for the Christian movie "Fireproof."
Nielsen Entertainment says the drama starring Kirk Cameron as a
firefighter who turns to God to save his marriage was the 10th biggest box office draw this past weekend, its third week in the top 10.
That's despite the fact that other movies are showing in three to four times as many theaters.
Taking that into account, "Fireproof" was the weekend's fourth most popular film, grossing more than $3,600 per theater where it was shown.
Produced for $500,000 by pastors and volunteers from Sherwood
Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, "Fireproof" has grossed almost
$17 million so far.
