PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - A 22-year-old Columbus, Ga. man has died in a multi-vehicle wreck in Phenix City.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced Charles Daniel Hillhouse dead Thursday night at 9:25 p.m.
Harris said in a statement that Hillhouse seems to have entered U.S. Highway 280 going east in the westbound lane of traffic when the motorcycle he was driving collided with at least three vehicles, killing him instantly.
No one else involved in the 9 p.m. accident was injured.
Harris said Hillhouse, who died from massive blunt force injuries, was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
He said toxicology tests are being run to see if alcohol was a factor in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation but no autopsy is planned.
