LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A 42-year-old man has been charged with the 1999 rape of a Gwinnett County teenager after his DNA was linked to the crime while he was imprisoned for burglary.
Police say they arrested Raymond Davila Contreras, whose DNA was entered into a state databank after he was sent to prison for a 2006 burglary in Forest Park.
Investigators say Contreras also matches the description the 16-year-old victim gave for one of two men who forced her into a truck as she walked to her Norcross residence on Aug. 15, 1999, took her to a closed warehouse and raped her.
She was thrown from the truck at a nearby gas station.
Police say the other suspect has not been identified.
