Alligator Found in Suwanee Subdivision Hauled Away

UWANEE, Ga. (AP) - Suwanee Police captured and removed a 2-foot alligator outside a home, much to the relief of local residents.

The alligator was first spotted Sunday afternoon in the Secret Cove subdivision. Four police officers managed to snag the reptile and place it in a dog crate.

A state game warden picked up the gator the next day.

No one is quite sure how the alligator got into the residential area, but wildlife officials suspect the reptile likely was someone's pet that grew too large.

Authorities said the critter will be released in a safer environment.
