SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Police have identified an Army solider in Georgia whom investigators say was shot and killed by his wife after returning home from Iraq.
Savannah-Chatham police said Staff Sgt. Michael Sams was killed Saturday during a domestic dispute at his Wilmington Island home.
Metro police spokeswoman Julian Miller told the Savannah Morning News that the victim's wife, Melaya Sams, has been taken into police custody for questioning.
She may face charges.
Police found the 36-year-old soldier badly wounded after being called to his house for a report of gunfire.
He died at Memorial University Medical Center.
Authorities said the slain man had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
