This Sunday is the five-year anniversary of the worst natural disaster in U.S. history – Hurricane Katrina.

On August, 29, 2005, Katrina roared into the Gulf of Mexico, making its second landfall as a category-three storm with sustained winds of 125 mph near Buras-Triump, La.

The storm surge caused catastrophic damage along the Gulf Coast. 80 percent of New Orleans was flooded when levees separating Lake Pontchartrain from the city were breached.

Katrina left more than 1,800 people dead and caused more than $80 billion in damages.
