Hilton Sandestin Resort to Reopen After Fire

The Hilton Sandestin Golf Resort and Spa has spent $6.5 million rebuilding its back deck.

The rebuilding comes after an accidental beach fire destroyed the Barefoots Beachside Bar and Grille, as well as the ground floor of the resort.

Since then, an army of 40 workers at a time have worked around the clock to rebuild.

It's scheduled to reopen a month from today.

"It really has come a long way,” said general manager Gary Brielmayer. “We've got a little bit more to go, we're over the half way mark and we just cannot wait to get the place open."

A renovation of that magnitude typically takes a year to complete, but the resort plans to have the project complete in just 5 months.
