CATTLE
Direct Trade:
In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas,
Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota on Thursday
Thursday negotiated cash trade in the Southern Plains was at a standstill.
For the prior week live sales in the Texas Panhandle sold at 129.00. In Kansas
for the previous week live sales sold at 128.00. In Nebraska trade was inactive
on light demand. Not enough sales to establish an adequate market trend. Last
week live sales sold from 127.00-129.50 with dressed sales at 203.00. In
Colorado trade was at a standstill. For the prior week live sales sold at
129.00. In the Western Cornbelt trade was inactive on light demand. Not enough
sales to establish an adequate market trend. Last week live sales sold at 127.00
with dressed at 203.00.
Steers: Live basis; (all Grades: 53 head) 124.50-127.00, weighted average price
126.29. Dressed basis; (all Grades: 2,422 head) 200.00-203.00, weighted average
price 201.31.
Heifers: live basis; (all Grades: 73 head) 124.50-126.00, weighted average
price 125.49. Dressed Basis; (all Grades: 120 head) 200.00, weighted average
price 200.00.

average price 88.57. Western Cornbelt 1.82 higher at 75.50-90.00, weighted
average price 88.02 and the Eastern Cornbelt .12 lower at 76.00-89.00,
