Cotton Futures Closed Below Expectations

Cotton closes lower than expected.

Thousands of residents from Newton County were among the crowd from all around northeast Georgia who flocked to a 21-acre sunflower field in Rutledge over the weekend. The annual Sunflower Festival featured arts and crafts booths, live bluegrass music and tractor and golf cart parades. The sunflowers are grown on a farm owned by the West-Holt family, who has invited the public to the festival for the past nine years.

NEW YORK (AP) - Cotton futures No. 2 closed $3.05 to $5.60 a bale lower Tuesday.

The average price for strict low middling 1 & 1-16 inch spot
cotton declined 71 points to 75.34 cents a pound Tuesday for the seven markets, according to the Market News Branch, Memphis USDA.
