Farmers and area "officials" are coming together to promote agriculture.

Friday, the group met for their annual Farm City Breakfast.

After a hearty meal, farmers and area leaders got an update on the agriculture industry in the Wiregrass.

Chamber of commerce's agriculture commission chairman, Dr. Arthur Moore says, agriculture is the biggest money-maker for the Wiregrass.

“We've got to realize now that agriculture now is probably the last major manufacturing we have in the U.S. Everything else is now being made somewhere else. At least we can produce our own food,” said Dr. Arthur Moore, Chairman of Chamber Ag Commission.

Dr. Moore says despite some loss in the crops, overall agriculture this season may not be a total loss.

Moore says the warmer temperatures have helped the area crops and he expects the new crops like blueberries and satsumas to thrive next season.
