Based on information provided by the National Weather Service and State Meteorologist regarding the potential for thunderstorms over the next 24 hours and ongoing rain for the next few days, Washington County has declared a Local State of Emergency effective at 2PM today, April 29, 2014.
The Choctawhatchee River, creeks and streams will rise. Most water on roadways will recede fairly quickly after the rain has stopped.
It's important that drivers use caution when traveling on roads and particularly dirt roads. Unseen road damage could be hidden by muddy waters; DO NOT drive through standing water. To report dangerous road conditions call 638-6280.
