UPDATE August 21, 2013: A second warrant was obtained by investigators with the Walton County Sheriff’s office for the arrest of 49-year-old Nancy Payne. Payne turned herself in today and was arrested for 102 felony counts of animal cruelty. A second search warrant was also executed Wednesday, August 21st at 1426 JW Hollington Road, Freeport, for the remainder of the animals. 8 horses, 2 donkeys and 3 dogs were rescued and have been taken to various locations for temporary custody. There will be more charges forthcoming.

August 19, 2013:A Freeport woman is arrested on animal cruelty charges.The Walton County sheriff's office discovered ninety-seven dogs and six horses at Nancy Payne's home. That's on Hollington Road. The animals were malnourished. Authorities took the animals to a nearby shelter and will care for them until new homes can be found.

Payne was charged with one count of felony animal cruelty. More charges are being filed in this four month long ongoing investigation.
