ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- State troopers say that when a car crashed into a central Florida day care, it slammed through the playroom where it hit three children -- killing one of them and seriously injuring two others -- and left 10 more people injured by flying debris.
The Florida Highway Patrol released a report on the April 9 crash Wednesday.
The Patrol says a convertible was preparing to turn right onto the private drive of a KinderCare in Winter Park when an SUV rear-ended the car. The impact propelled the car through the KinderCare parking lot and into the building.
A 4-year-old girl later died and two children had injuries that were described as incapacitating.
FHP says the SUV driver fled the scene but turned himself in the next day.
