Chipley – Paving work continues on State Road (S.R.) 22 between Star Avenue and the Gulf County line in Panama City. Curb, gutter and sidewalk work will take place Monday, Oct. 8 through Saturday, Oct. 13 near Star Avenue. Traffic signal crews will also begin installing mast arm supports for the Star Avenue intersection.
This work is part of the $5.8 million construction contract awarded to C.W. Roberts Contracting to resurface S.R. 22 from Star Avenue to the Gulf County line. The project includes resurfacing, minor drainage work, pavement markings and signage. The traffic signal at Star Avenue will be replaced with mast arm (metal) poles. Southbound left and right turn lanes, a northbound left turn lane and a westbound right turn lane will be added at Star Avenue. County Road 2297 will also receive an eastbound right turn lane.
Resurfacing work is nearing completion on State Road (S.R.) 22 in Gulf County. Currently, workers are performing sidewalk and driveway work along the corridor. The final layer of asphalt and permanent striping will be applied later this month. Recent storms and inclement weather have extended the completion date to mid November.
Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to obey the posted speed limit when traveling through the work zone and to watch for construction equipment and workers entering and exiting the roadway.
