SNEADS-- On June 30, 2012, The Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Town of Sneads will be hosting the 2nd Annual Water Safety event at the Sneads Park, located on Lake Seminole. Sheriff Roberts has been concerned about the safety of Jackson County Residents and Visitors to our county throughout his career in Law Enforcement. Whenever there is an incident on Lake Seminole, which is boarded by 3 states and 2 Florida counties multiple agencies are called into action. It doesn't matter if the person(s) involved entered the lake from Georgia, Jackson or Gadsden County, Florida, all available assets are used. Most of the deaths that have occurred were due to lack of safety equipment. During the event, which will begin at 9:00 am, there will be displays of emergency equipment from Jackson County, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, U. S. Corps of engineers, Town of Sneads, Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Florida Highway Patrol. Informational materials will be available from different agencies. Tents will be provided by Apalachee Correctional Institution. The Capital Regional Medical Group, Women's Health, Surgical Associates and Cardiology Associates will be in attendance and have informational materials for the public. There will be food and drinks for sale; including shaved ice. The choo choo train will be there for the children and entertainment will be provided by Amy Scipper Allen. Come and have a great time learning about safety while you enjoy the beauty of Sneads Park and fellowship with your friends, neighbors and members of these various agencies who are there to serve you, the public.
