The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report that an armed robber tried to get money from a Fort Walton Beach man early Friday morning, then left the scene on a skateboard.

The 50-year old victim contacted deputies around 2:15 a.m.

He says he was walking up to his front door on Roanoke Court when a man approached him with a gun and pointed it at him, demanding money. The resident told the robber he didn’t have any money and the man ran into the roadway towards Carmel Drive and rode off on a skateboard.

The victim described the individual as a 5’9” white male with facial hair, in his early to mid twenties, weighing approximately 180 pounds, and wearing dark shorts and a T-shirt.

Anyone with information on the attempted robbery is asked to call the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 850-651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS.
