The search continues this morning for 30 year old Destin resident Jerry Dean “JD” Lee, who disappeared while reportedly free diving for sand dollars in the Gulf of Mexico Monday afternoon.
Lee disappeared in waters at the far side of the second sandbar behind Coral Reef Club Condominiums, 2798 Scenic Highway 98 in Destin.
Two juveniles who had been riding on a waverunner with Lee say he got off the vessel to dive for sand dollars but never came back up.
Lee is the operator of Emerald Horizon Beach Services in Destin.
The Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office, Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Coast Guard, Destin Fire, and Fish and Wildlife representatives are involved in the search.
