Potential for Trouble

It may look like the perfect day on the beach ,but there's the potential for trouble in the water along the coast of Alabama and the Florida panhandle.

The National Weather Service has issued a riptide alert due to a tropical weather system in the Gulf of Mexico.

Rip currents are dangerous to surfers and swimmers because they can make it nearly impossible to get back to the beach.

Experts say if you're ever caught in a rip current, swim parallel to the shore until you're out of danger.
