MIAMI (AP) -- Authorities say a Miami police officer shot and killed a knife wielding man.
The Miami-Dade Police Department reports officers responded to a 911 call regarding a fight and a large crowd early Sunday.
When the officers arrived they found 49-year-old John Fisher suffering from a stab wound.
Investigators say 36-year-old Timmie Williams exited the residence with a knife. Officers commanded him to drop the knife, but say he attempted to stab another individual.
An officer discharged his firearm, fatally wounding Williams.
Fischer was airlifted to a local hospital and is in stable condition. No officers were injured during the incident.
