PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Visitors at a Florida Panhandle zoo are getting a rare opportunity to interact with 9-week-old African lion cubs.

ZooWorld officials are allowing the public brief slots to play with the two cubs, saying the human interaction is an important part of socializing the animals so they will be manageable when they are full-grown.

The brother and sister cubs have not been named.

The cubs can only interact with the public until they reach 40 pounds.

They weigh about 17 pounds now and will probably hit the 40-pound limit by the end of August.

For now, the cubs have to go home with zoo staffers at night because they require round-the-clock care.
