The Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrants Unit has tracked down a Fort Walton Beach man wanted for aggravated battery, grand theft auto, and two counts of battery.
Investigators who’ve been searching for 51-year old Michael David Tuele of 506 North Street were able to locate him at 76 4th Avenue in Shalimar shortly before noon this morning.
Initially Tuele refused to respond to attempts to get him to come out. Eventually the door was forced open and an OCSO K-9 announcement was made. Those actions convinced Tuele to step out the door and into custody.
Tuele was wanted in connection with a June 6th, 2011 incident in which he’s accused of attacking a taxi cab driver who had picked him up from “The Block” nightspot in Fort Walton Beach, along with his female companion.
The cab driver says in addition to hitting her in the head, Tuele also grabbed the radio mike out of her hand and wrapped it around her neck, causing her to choke. He became violent towards a second taxi cab driver who arrived to assist. Tuele then drove one of the taxi’s away before crashing into a dumpster. He and his female companion ran from the scene.
Tuele has been taken to the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview.
