An Okaloosa Island man has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.
The suspect, Eric Jacob Moore, 34, of 352 Billfish Avenue, was released this morning from a Pensacola hospital and booked into the Escambia County jail.
He is now awaiting transport back to Okaloosa County following the deputy involved shooting that took place around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Mary Esther Cut-off and Anchors Street.
An officer involved shooting that took place this evening in Mary Esther began when an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a driver who had been the subject of a citizen’s 9-1-1 call in reference to erratic driving.
The deputy was not injured.
The man was taken to a Pensacola hospital and is expected to recover.
As part of an established protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.
Additional details are expected to be released later today.
