The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office today debuted its new iPhone app that will make crime-related public safety information easily accessible to its citizens at no charge.
In fact, the iPhone app was developed in-house at the OCSO at no additional cost to the public.
The app features general contact information, office locations, links to the agency website, active warrants, Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers, “Catch a Crook – Take a Look”, access to the agency social media sites such as Facebook and YouTube, access to NIXLE, (which allows citizens to sign up for free real-time citizen alerts and advisories, ) and more.
“With today’s reliance on smartphones for quick access to information, this is a tremendously cost-effective and efficient way to enhance crime prevention efforts and our ability to communicate with the public”, said Sheriff Larry Ashley. “We’re proud of the fact that our app was developed entirely in-house by our I.T. department, which made it a point to ensure the app is user-friendly and that it does not eat up significant space in your phone’s memory. We will also be adding more features, as well as an Android app, in the future.”
To download the app to your iPhone, just go to your app store and search for “Okaloosa Sheriff”.
