PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) -- Bay County will not face any sanctions even though a state investigation found that an animal shelter employee falsified euthanasia reports.
The employee was fired for falsifying records that track barbiturate quantities used by Bay County Animal Control. It could not be determined what happened to the drugs. Rather than fine the county, the Florida Department of Health issued a letter of guidance.
The employee was fired but no criminal charges have been filed.
The county has agreed to increase spending by about 30 percent at the shelter next year to add employees and increase oversight.
