DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A Minnesota woman has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crash that killed a 19-year-old.
Tiffany Rose Fletcher pleaded guilty Thursday to leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. She was sentenced to five years in prison followed by 15 years' probation.
She is also required to perform 100 hours of community service each year on probation.
Police believe Fletcher struck bicyclist Bruce Robb and his dog in 2010. Robb was still alive when authorities arrived, but died several hours later.
A phone tip eventually led officers to Fletcher. Her truck still had remnants of Robb's DNA on the windshield, but she insisted she hit a mailbox.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://lb.vg/sf619) reports Fletcher an apology statement to Robb's family at the sentencing.
