Marianna Armed Robbery Investigation Closed

On 08-04-2012, at 10:30 AM, Officers of the Marianna Police Department responded to 4496 Lafayette St. Marianna, Fl. 32446, The Decorator’s Door, in reference to a report of a strong armed robbery of the store. The clerk on duty described the suspect as a white male, bald, with some facial hair, and a lot of tattoos on his arms and legs. She said he was wearing a gray Florida gators shirt, khaki shorts and tan skate shoes. The suspect came in the store walked around, left the store and returned shortly thereafter. Upon entering the store the second time he walked up to the clerk demanding the money from the register. The clerk gave the suspect the money from the register, and the suspect left the store with the contents of the cash register, after telling the clerk to go to the back of the store. When the suspect drove away he left in a pewter colored 4 door pickup truck.

Further investigation has revealed that prior to committing the robbery at the Decorator’s Door the suspect went into other businesses in the area and was caught on security video entering another store. The clerk at the Decorator’s Door has positively identified the man in this video as being the same suspect who robbed the Decorator’s Door. She also was able to identify the silver 4 door Toyota Tundra shown in the video as the vehicle he used to flee the scene of the robbery, on 08-04-2012.

The security video was released to the press on 08-06-2012. The following day crime stoppers sent a tip saying that the person in the video was Christopher Walley. The identification matched an on-going grand theft auto investigation going on in Calhoun County in which this same suspect had been named as the perpetrator. The Christopher Walley was arrested on unrelated charges on 08-10-2012 by the Cottondale Police Department and placed in the Jackson County Correction Facility. A six person photo lineup which included Walley was shown the Decorator’s Door Clerk on 08-14-2012. Without hesitation she pointed to the photo of Christopher Walley identifying him as the man who robbed the store on 08-04-2012.

Christopher Walley was is being charged with strong arm robbery of the Decorator's Door on 08-04-2012. The Marianna Police Department would like to thank the business owners, citizens in our community, and other law enforcement agencies in surrounding jurisdictions who were instrumental in the successful conclusion of this case.
