Any U.S. citizen should follow all laws to avoid any jail time or hefty fines, but these laws, some of them, you wouldn't even know you were breaking any laws.
Sweet home Alabama, founded in 1819, and some of the laws on the books are still in black and white.
Here are just a few that may surprise you.
"if you want to tie up your pet alligator to a fire hydrant, you'll head straight to the slammer.."
"well if I did have an alligator I'd have to tie him up some where, maybe not a fire hydrant, but i think I would tie him up to a tree."
"maybe they had alligators for pets back then..."
One law on the books that should *keep* you from laughing...well...
"what about you can't wear a moustache in church because in might cause laughter?"
“just the idea of it causes laughter, great law great, we need an anti- moustache law in our churches."
And wearing a mask in the middle of the street, even for Halloween, well that might cost you a misdemeanor.
"mask may not be worn in public? Well that could be good for some people and bad for other. Okay why? If you're good lookin' you don't need a mask, but there might be some people better off with one on."
"also in the state of Alabama you can't stand in the street and pop open in umbrella, for fear of spooking horses, but what about if it's raining?"
"that is really one they need to get rid of, I haven't seen horses on the street ever."
"that's a law? Yes that's a law, that's ridiculous, that's totally ridiculous."
And ridiculous or not one game that might cost you up to one hundred dollars is one of Americas favorite past times...but only if you play on Sunday.
"it's dominoes, what is it hurting anybody? I mean you can buy dominoes in the store, in family dollar, dollar tree."
What you can also buy from a store is salt, but before you pour some on a railroad track you might want to think about if you don't want to walk the green mile.
All in all the question really might be if police enforce these looney laws.
"all I can tell you is that if you wake up on Sunday morning, you start with a game of dominoes, you move on to bear wrestling, and then you salt a railroad track, you are going to face a variety of fines."
Lesson of the day: looney laws could blow up in your face.
