FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) -- Election workers are preparing to begin a recount of early votes in the race between Republican U.S. Rep. Allen West and Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy. Murphy holds the lead and plans to seek an injunction to stop the recount. They say evidence of a mistake is needed for a recount.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- An internal investigation is planned at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office after one of its detectives resigned for making threatening comments about President Barack Obama. Sheriff John Rutherford says it was not a legitimate threat, but the comments showed unacceptable workplace conduct.

MIAMI (AP) -- An 82-year-old man is the second person in Miami-Dade County to have been diagnosed with dengue fever this year. Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes. It's sometimes called "break bone fever" because of the severe joint pain it can cause in extreme cases.
