JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A Jacksonville teen has pleaded guilty to causing a fatal crash while fleeing police.
Zachary Lambert pleaded guilty Monday to vehicular homicide, fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and grand theft auto.
Prosecutors dropped a third-degree murder charge against the 16-year-old boy.
Police began chasing Lambert's white truck early one morning last November after someone reported it driving erratically.
The Florida Times-Union reports that the pursuit ended four miles later when Lambert struck 22-year-old Christopher Thompson's car.
Lambert had been charged as an adult, meaning he could face up to 35 years in prison. But a judge could decide to sentence Lambert as a youthful offender, meaning his sentence would be significantly less.
