In Remembrance: PFC Matthew C. Colin

Flags will be flown at half-staff Tuesday in Florida in honor of Private First Class Matthew C. Colin of Navarre.

Colin died on November 16 in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to A Company. 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Born in St. Augustine on January 20, 1989, Colin graduated from Navarre High School in 2007. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the NATO Medal.

Colin will be laid to rest Tuesday morning at 11:00 at the Naval Aviation Memorial Chapel in Pensacola. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Colin's memory to his memorial fund.
