UPDATE: Holmes County Road Closures

Due to excessive rainfall amounts and the flash flood Watch in place currently for Holmes County, we strongly urge all residents to travel only when necessary. This is an extremely dangerous situation. Please heed all state and local warnings and barricades as posted. Road crews and law enforcement are continuing to respond to reported hazardous road conditions.

All residents along the Choctawhatchee River should closely monitor rising waters as well as those individuals living along creeks and streams, and low-lying areas. Minor flooding is forecast for the Choctawhatchee River cresting at 15 Foot on July 7, 2013.

Holmes County urges all residents to travel only when necessary on all County Roads due to the excessive amount of rainfall that has fallen and the additional amount that is anticipated through Friday July 5. Road crews and law enforcement are continuing to respond to reported hazardous road conditions. This is an extremely dangerous situation. Please heed all state and local warnings and barricades as posted.

All residents along the Choctawhatchee River should closely monitor rising waters as well as those individuals living along creeks and streams, and low-lying areas. Minor flooding is forecast for the Choctawhatchee River at 14.3 on July 6.

Currently the following Roads are closed:

W.A. Clark Rd (at bridge)
Grover Lewis Rd (entire road)
Paulk Rd (entire road)
Tup McWaters Rd (West end at bridge)
Hathaway Mill Road

Road Closures as of July 3, 2013 at 3:00 pm:

W.A. Clark Rd (at bridge)
Grover Lewis Rd (entire road)
Paulk Rd (entire road)
Tup McWaters Rd (West end at bridge)
CR 177A (at AL state line) not closed but water crossing on AL side
All persons with interest along the Choctawhatchee River and low-lying flood prone areas should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take all necessary precautions to protect life, personal property, livestock, and pets.

Please drive with caution and do not attempt to go around barricades or through flooded roads. Anyone needing assistance please contact the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department at 547-3681.
