A Panama City Beach Man is dead and another Beach resident has been jailed following a hit and run crash on Back Beach Road Sunday morning.
Killed in the 3:15 AM crash was 22-year-old Phillip Drozd.
Arrested for hit and run driving, among other charges, is 37-year-old Joseph Christopher Acoff.
Beach Police say the fatal accident happened on Back Beach just west of Gulf Blvd at Open Sands. Acoff was headed east-bound when he crashed into Drozd’s car knocking it into the median where it started rolling over and landed in the ditch on the north side of the highway. Drozd died a short time after arriving at Bay Medical Center.
Acoff fled after the crash but Panama City Beach Police found, arrested and jailed him a short time later.
