TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Rick Scott has appointed a health maintenance organization executive and a banker to the Florida Board of Governors, which oversees the state's 11 public universities.
Scott on Thursday also reappointed Jacksonville lawyer Ava Parker.
The new members are Sun Trust Banks Inc. president and CEO Thomas Kuntz and Preferred Care Partners Inc. CEO and co-founder Joseph Caruncho.
Kuntz, of Winter Park, replaces Stanley Marshall, a former Florida State University president.
Caruncho, of Palmetto Bay, succeeds Ann Duncan, a Tampa real estate broker and consultant.
The appointments are subject to Senate confirmation, but they can serve on the board in the meantime.
Caruncho's career path mirrors Scott's. Both were lawyers before getting into the health care business. Scott was CEO of a hospital chain.
